Veteran & Guardian Applications
Veteran Applications
Capital Region Honor Flight recognizes American veterans for your sacrifices and achievements by bringing you to Washington, DC as an honored guest to see YOUR memorial at no cost. For what you and your comrades have given to us, please consider this on a small token of appreciation from all of us at Honor Flight.
We invite all WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veterans to apply to travel with Capital Region Honor Flight to Washington DC, via bus, for a day of honor and remembrance.
Each Veteran will be paired with a Guardian on the trip to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the day. Qualified family members or a friend / caregiver can apply to serve as a Family Guardian (sorry, spouses or partners are not allowed to serve). Family Guardians pay a $100 tax deductible fee to help cover meals and a keepsake t-shirt.
We offer two easy ways to apply. Use our online application, or print a paper application to fill out and mail. Once we receive your application, we will let you know when you are scheduled to travel with us. Be sure to indicate all applicable origination locations you are able to travel to. Transportation can be arranged, if needed, to the origination location closest to your residence.
Family Guardian Application
Sharing this day with a family member can be very memorable and bonding. Family Guardians play a significant role on every trip; ensuring that your Veteran has a safe and memorable experience. Duties include physically assisting your family Veteran all day; including transportation to the starting location, during the bus trip, and at each stop. Family Guardians will pay a nominal tax-deductible fee of $100 to partially cover their own expenses (meals, t-shirt, etc.). Guardians must be physically able to push a wheelchair all day in any kind of weather. Because this is a physically demanding job, Family Guardians may be subject to a medical check by our team to ensure they are qualified to care for the Veteran during the mission. Spouses and partners are not acceptable as Family Guardians. If you would like to travel with a specific Veteran, you must fill out a Family Guardian application for consideration.
