Capital Region Trip 10-2-24

“Thank you for making the 2025 Honor Flight so very special for my husband. It meant so much to him. He said he had never been appreciated for his service until this trip.”

“At the Navy Memorial, I got to see the bas relief panel with an LST on the outside wall, and a plaque for the USS Waller inside! It was great to have the young people come up and thank me for my service. The trip made me feel good about being a Veteran and the time I spent in the Navy.”

“I have friends in different parts of the country that have been, and they told me that I wouldn’t be disappointed, and I wasn’t. I would tell all my Veteran friends to go! And my guardian Fawne was great. The trip was well organized and being a Vietnam Veteran, we got a welcome home that we didn’t get when we returned from Vietnam.”

“I thought it would just be another trip into DC. Boy was I wrong! It was absolutely amazing. I would recommend this even to Veterans who live in DC!”

“I did not expect the guardians to be so attentive. My guardian Lynn was awesome. The guardians could not have been any better. As the day wore on, and the temperatures rose, they made sure all our needs were met so everyone could enjoy the trip. I would recommend this to others – it would be a terrible mistake to miss the opportunity to enjoy the Capital Region Honor Flight staff and the trip to DC. It was so nice to have people thank you for your service. As you get older it means even more to know your time serving our country has not been forgotten.”

“My daughter (my guardian) and I thought we were just going to see the Memorials (again). However, the day was planned out so well with surprises and acknowledgements that we were both overwhelmed! I want to thank Jenny, Janice and the medical volunteers who put this day together. God bless each and every one of you for your dedication to making each and every Veteran feel special. It was one of the best days of my life and to share it with my daughter and the other Veterans was just wonderful.”

“Every minute there was a wonderful surprise, including my daughter meeting us at one stop! And Corey was a great guardian! I loved being with my fellow Veterans and being honored for my service. It was an amazing day for those of us who served during the time of challenge in our country. This trip was the first time I felt honored for caring for my amazing patients. “I often greet other Honor Flight groups arriving at BWI. My experience on this trip made me understand the feelings a Veteran has on these trips.
